Whether you are brand new to the wheel or wanting to brush up on some skills from high school, these small group introductory classes are a fun and hands on way to learn your way around the pottery wheel.

An experienced instructor will cover wheel throwing basics during a thorough demonstration. After that, the class will be lead through the process from start to finish, receiving individualized guidance and feed back along the way. Your pottery will be trimmed and glazed for you by the studio. It will be ready for pick up 4-6 weeks after your scheduled appointment

Clay, tools, and glazes are provided by the studio. Cleanup of your space/wheel is required within the session.

If you are new to the pottery wheel and want to get the basics of throwing DOWN, the Foundational 5 Week Wheel Series is the option for you. We want ceramics to become your new favorite hobby. With a patient and knowledgeable instructor by your side, these small group classes are perfect for learning and community.

LEVEL 1 : Throughout this group course, you will learn the entirety of the pottery wheel process. From wedging and prepping balls clay, and throwing on the wheel, to trimming, handling, and of course, glazing, you will be taught the ins and outs of completing a piece of ceramics. The first two weeks are focused on refining your basic wheel throwing skills- prepping, centering, wall pulling, shaping. The third week is dedicated to consistency. You will learn not only how to create consistency within your work and finding your style. You know, in case you want to make the same cup twice or create a brand:). Week four is focused on trimming, carving, and handling techniques. You are shown how to clean up your pieces and add some ‘finishing touches’. Finally, week five is the week that we talk in detail about glazing. You then get to glaze all of the pieced you made during your course.

Ceramic Study Hall : The Ceramic Study Hall is new to our schedule and is brought to you by POPULAR demand. After a L1 Wheel Series, many students are looking for a lot more wheel time to play and learn, but are not feeling 100% confident in booking solo wheel time/acquiring a membership at another studio where they will be expected to work completely independently; They want a class that is not totally structured- giving space to mess around and get a feel for their personal style- while an instructor is present to answer questions, problem solve, and give demonstrations AS NEEDED. This class is the solution. This course is intended for those who have a moderate to intermediate handle skill level on the pottery wheel who are looking to continue to stack their skills and broaden their creativity. This class is a guided independent study where students are free to work on creating consistency and developing a personal creative voice within their body of work. Explore techniques that you, as the growing artist, are wanting to learn about. With the basics out of the way, this series is a guided studio session that is tailored to each individual student’s learning goals.

Date night? Girls night? Wanting to try something new? This fun and romantic workshop is 2.5 hours of learning, fun, laughter, and creating. The class will be shown the ropes of creating art both on the pottery wheel and through hand building techniques. Each participant will create about 4 pieces of their own, and will get to choose their favorite 2 to keep.

There will be clay. There will be wine. There will be snacks. Do we need to say anything more? Grab your people or come alone and meet new people! It’s always a great time. Cheers!

Wheel + Wine — BOOK NOW

The human figure is a beautiful and fascinating thing to study. In this very unique workshop, we will have fun breaking down the basics of sculpting the human form. You will learn multiple approachable techniques and skills that will set you up to create a body-inspired figural vessel. With Topo Chico seltzers and snacks provided, you are set up for both success and a good time.

Figure Sculpting — BOOK NOW

Wanting more time in the studio? You know your wheel skills and you’re wanting independent work time to hone your pottery skills and tap into your creativity? AMAZING. You’re probably looking to become a member. If you took our 5 Week Wheel Series, you’ve already become enmeshed in the Terra Community and we would love to continue making with you! If not, no worries. We love new friends.

Being a member at Studio Terra Terra means that you will have full access to all of the studio’s materials, tools, and aprons. Materials that you will have full access to include B-mix clay, Speckled Buff clay, and our house glazes. As a member you will also have your own designated shelf to store your work and any personal tools. Members also have other huge benefits such as first access to our specialty workshops, our monthly news letter, as well as exclusive discounts on any and all Terra Terra classes!

Firing fees are not included in monthly membership. Firing fees are due as pieces are ready to bisque and charged at the end of your studio session. Monthly fee structure is based on studio hours. Unused studio hours DO NOT roll over to the next month. Members must reserve their studio session prior to arrival using their unique member code. Member code is not to be shared. Member hours are booked in 120 minute intervals. Thorough clean up, and payment of firing fees must be completed within the 120 minute session. Members are responsible for their own work from start to finish (Making, covering, trimming, glazing). Limited outside firing for members upon approval.
